What is BodyTite?

BodyTite is a minimally invasive lipolysis technique designed to dissolve fat in targeted areas of the body while firming and tightening the skin. BodyTite is also known as radio frequency assisted lipolysis or RFAL and is an innovation in body contouring and liposuction techniques. This procedure is good for men and women with stubborn areas of fat in localized areas. RFAL is the most advanced technique for liposuction and body contouring available. BodyTite offers a safer, gentler, and less traumatic alternative to traditional liposuction with minimal post-operative discomfort and bruising. With BodyTite you will see a substantial fat reduction and body firming results in areas such as the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, arms, and back. This can be a great option if you have skin laxity and do not want an excisional procedure.

Who is a good candidate for BodyTite procedures in Scottsdale?

Anyone wanting to make life-changing improvements to their body without ever going under the knife. We can perform these procedures in our comfortable office setting, avoiding an invasive surgical procedure. It can be performed for men and women looking to transform the contour of almost any trouble area. Basically anyone looking for real results without the scars. This can be a great option if you have skin laxity and do not want an excisional procedure or the lumpy irregular appearance that can be associated with traditional liposuction. You are a candidate if you demonstrate realistic expectations, are in general good health, but have frustrating areas of excess fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.

What areas can be treated?

At Oasis Plastic Surgery typical BodyTite treatment areas include the abdomen, hips, flanks, arms, thighs, knees, buttocks and back. In many cases, more than one area can be treated during the same procedure to reduce operating costs and recovery times. Dr. Geoghegan will develop a personalized treatment plan for you during your consultation.

What can I expect during my BodyTite procedure?

This minimally invasive procedure is performed under local anesthesia in our office. Dr. Geoghegan uses the tumescent technique to prepare the area and make the process comfortable. During your liposuction procedure with RFAL or BodyTite in Scottsdale, several tiny incisions will be made to allow access to the fat. Next, the tumescent solution which is saline mixed with a local anesthetic and epinephrine are injected to expand and firm the fat, making it easier to remove. Then the BodyTite hand-piece is then used to heat and treat the unwanted areas of fat and to smooth and tighten the skin. Next, a small, thin tube or cannula is inserted through the incision to suction away the fat.

Your procedure can last from one to three hours depending on the number of areas and amount of fat being removed. Typically, no stitches are needed to close the tiny incisions after liposuction, but occasionally Dr. Geoghegan may use some dissolving sutures to close any larger incisions.

BodyTite recovery – What to expect after your procedure.

This is an in-office procedure so patients can expect to go home immediately following their procedure with no sutures and resume regular activities shortly after. We advise no aggressive workouts for two weeks but normal activity and walking are encouraged. Due to the RFAL technology less bruising and swelling is noted than with a traditional liposuction but we still ask our patients to wear a compression garment for at least two weeks for best results. No special skin care regimen is required but you should always protect your skin from direct sun exposure and use a good sunscreen. Following the procedure you will have an improved contour and much tighter skin that looks and feels better. The repair and healing process takes three to six months and contours will continue to improve overtime.

Patients may experience swelling, bruising and numbness immediately after BodyTite but much less than after traditional liposuction. Numbness from the tumescent will wear off over the first day, and patients may have numbness of the skin during the recovery process. Dr. Geoghegan will usually prescribe a pain medication that can be used along with natural remedies such as Arnica and Bromelain. Results can be seen immediately but best results will continue to improve over three to six months.

What are the benefits of BodyTite and how long do results last?

You can expect the results to last around five years, but as with any procedure your genetics, lifestyle choices and overall skin condition can affect the longevity of your results.
BodyTite uses patented RFAL technology to gently melt and remove excess fat through a tiny incision in an inconspicuous location. By pre-melting the fat, the removal is a far less traumatic and greatly reduces post-procedural pain, swelling, and discomfort leading to a shorter downtime. In addition to fat removal, one of the unique features of BodyTite is its ability to safely heat the skin and soft tissues producing significant tightening with soft tissue contraction up to 40%.

We are one of only two offices in Arizona to offer the most advanced treatments in the world for body contouring. Get the results of a surgical procedure without the surgery, call (480) 860-2173 to schedule your personal consultation with Dr. Geoghegan to help you determine the best course of treatment for your unique needs.
